Long Beach to Catalina Island to Ensenada Mexico with our kids and my Parents! Fun, fun, fun!!!
We left Saturday the 7th and drove down to St. George to stay the night. I decided that I would like to listen to a book during our long drive, and decided that it was high time to read (listen) to The Hunger Games, I was a little worried about letting the kids listen to it until Kelsy told me that her teacher was reading it to them in school. The kids LOVED it, they couldn't wait to get back in the car to listen to it! That made the drive great, that was all the entertainment they had the whole drive and really they want to go for another drive to listen to the next book. We went to Sacrament meeting in St. George, I really enjoyed their testimony meeting but man their are a LOT of old people there in St. George! Don't get me wrong I love old people and I really did enjoy the meeting there.
We got to our ship Monday morning. We had so much fun! We all really enjoyed it. Great food!!!! I've told people that really most of the cruise I felt like we were eating or going potty. But really we had plenty to do and had a lot of fun! We had a really cute Waitress named Arini. She was from Endonesia. We just loved her! Her husband worked with her as a waiter on the ship also. She worked so hard and we were all so very impressed with her!
I loved watching the kids play on the little beach in Catalina. It was such beautiful weather there and in LA. If my kids hadn't been with us we would have rented a bike and would have gone biking in all the hills there. Grandpa paid for some great ice-cream cones there on Catalina and we all sat by the beach and ate them as the pigeons started to flock all around us. The kids started throwing them little pieces or their cones and then we had a swarm of them wanting more! Annoying but cute as the kids and Grandma held pieces out and they grabbed them from their hands. I couldn't help but sing "Feed the Birds" from Mary Poppins.
The next day we went to Ensenada Mexico. We didn't make it too far into the city but it was fun to be there. I love listening to Robert as he talked to the people. We stopped and talked to a really nice lady security officer. She talked to Robert about the City a little. We stopped at one of the markets and we watched as they made bracelets for all the kids with their names on it. So impressive how fast they were! We walked through their fish market. I think my mom would have got some if there had been a place to cook it! The kids didn't like that much because of how much the fish smelled! Interesting though! They had pelecans all over just waiting. They are huge birds!
The last day was spent just on the boat. The kids all played in the water slides while we all relaxed and talked. It was easy to people watch on that ship. I think there were people from every race and country! I felt like I exposed my kids to a LOT! Well a lot of people and a lot of people drinking! (It made for a very nice family home evening lesson when we got back about why we don't drink!) Later in the afternoon we watched a movie and then went to a Party. They invited people to get up on stage and dance, and not many people were, Robert and I got up on stage in front of everyone and did swing dance. So fun! I thought it would be scary but I told myself who cares no one will ever see me again. It was great, the Lady told us to stay up for the next song! I think that was one of my favorite things! I wish I had had a camera so my mom could have taken pictures! After a great dinner we went to Karaoke. Anna had been wanting to go all day. That girl is just amazing! She chose a song from the book (which was the hardest part cause all she knows is the new stuff) and got up there and just sang her heart out in front of everyone! So cute to see her up there. She was not even a little scared, she was even moving with the beat a little! Kelsy really wanted to but her nerves got the best of her. I think Anna would have sang all night if there hadn't been so many other people wanting to sing too.
Oh I forgot...I guess having so much fun had it's price, every night Lyla either fell asleep eating dinner, or just before leaving the dinner table. She was exhausted every night. Even the kids I think it was the 2nd night were begging to go to bad right after dinner.

We got off the boat and drove straight home. Long drive but worth the 3 day weekend we came home to!
All-in-All we had a great time. We would not take kids on a cruise again (there are too many places to see any way to do that with them again) mainly because of the drinking and gambling. But Robert and I have in our sights maybe a Hawian cruise sometime in the future! (I think anyways...after coming home and seeing that Mediteranian cruise liner go down the same weeks we were out makes you think about it a little)
(Pictures are not in any order because that would just take me too long!)
